Original Productions
Since our inception in 2009 Relevant Pictures has been a hybrid production entity, that has focused on Original Productions. Based in San Francisco, CA, we specialize in filmed content for the screens of today, with a focused eye on tomorrow. As the box keeps changing shape, so does our thought process. Our stories range from those of rock stars to global brands, and we consciously allow our experience with each to bleed over into the other. There is no template, or one-size-fits-all in our lexicon.

With an elite network of award-winning production talent spread across the globe, there is no project too big, nor too small, nor too far-reaching for us to take on. We have rolled with world leaders, posh celebrities, and major music festivals. We are equally as comfortable as a one-man show. Big screen, small screen or phone screen, our goal is always to affect the viewer.

Music Videos
Most music videos leave a bad taste in your mouth like stale cotton candy. It’s a little weird, fluffy and super artificially sweet. We make music videos with a full-bodied taste.  It’s taste you can enjoy because you’ve never tasted it before like filet mignon but with sherbet on the meat because that’s very different. For almost ten years we’ve been working with major record labels like Mercury, Time Warner and Sub Pop. They send us a new song and we listen it to it. Then we invent a concept to boldly illustrate the music– something absurdly sad but also funny like dropping a grand piano on a one eyed dog. That’s the kind of music videos we make, always tasteful. Full of taste like an outrageous meal you eat with your eyes and your brain.

Editorial
Every production project has its own unique path to editorial. Our philosophy is to embrace the amazing technological choices available to filmmakers. By adopting Final Cut Pro, After Effects and Maya as our primary tools, we have the flexibility to help a project at virtually any point in the creative process.

Motion Graphics
Motion design and editorial are forever merged at Relevant Pictures. The solo “graphic session” is an endangered species. Virtually every project that walks in the door will have a need for motion graphic design at multiple points along the path. At Relevant, we’ve designed a workflow that allows projects to begin in either After Effects or Final Cut Pro and move between programs as necessary. Behind the box, we’ve designed a strong level of technical infrastructure to make sure that this transition is quick and painless. Our artists are amazing and can do it all: 2D/3D design, secondary color correction, FX, and typography design. They are champions of this multi-directional approach and love to take a project to unexpected levels of visual integration.

Studio Technology
At Relevant, we believe that every digital video project is different. We continually embrace new technologies and strive to find the best solution to your specific post-production needs. We will evaluate your project and work with you to create a customized workflow. Then we’ll use our production staff and post resources to help see your project to completion. Relevant Pictures is based on a commitment to the Final Cut Pro platform. We are experts at HD editorial using Final Cut, After Effects, and Maya. And our in-depth knowledge of video workflow and project management will help make your project a success. Our technical infrastructure is fast and centralized, with a server-based environment that allows media to be moved quickly when a need arises. This allows our edit rooms to be quiet and comfortable.
